Know Your Rights as a Homeowner — Before You Ever Need Them.

Most homeowners never talk to a lawyer until a problem is already out of hand. This free educational guide explains why early legal guidance matters, how a legal plan membership works, and how to make informed decisions from a position of knowledge - not fear.

Why This Matters

The Best Time To
Understand Your Options

Life happens fast. A job change, a medical event, a family emergency - and suddenly the household budget is under pressure. The homeowners who come through difficult seasons in the best shape tend to have one thing in common: they understood their rights and options early, while every door was still open.

When you wait, decisions get made for you. Documents get signed without review. Offers get accepted without a second opinion. Questions that a qualified attorney could answer in a phone call go unasked - because "lawyers are for rich people" or "I'll deal with it later."

Being prepared isn't pessimism. It's the same reason you carry homeowner's insurance: you hope you never need it, and you're very glad it's there if you do.

WHY I SHARE THIS

I Learned This The Expensive Way

Portrait of Harry Cornish

There’s a saying in a well-known commercial:
“Life comes at you fast.”
It’s true.
No matter how carefully you plan… no matter how responsible you’ve been… sometimes life takes a turn you never saw coming.
I know because I’ve lived it.
In 2019, I retired after 35 years in the communications industry. I had prepared well for retirement and was excited about the next chapter of my life.
Everything was going according to plan.

For the first six months, it felt like a dream. My retirement income was strong, my plans were unfolding exactly as I had hoped, and I finally had the freedom to focus on my family, my faith, and the future.

Then the world changed.
The pandemic arrived.

Almost overnight, what seemed like temporary challenges became life-changing realities.

The financial gains I had anticipated were quickly overshadowed by unexpected responsibilities. I suddenly found myself balancing the demands of being a caregiver, serving in ministry, and managing the financial pressures that came with an uncertain economy.

Like millions of Americans, I discovered that even the best plans can’t protect you from every unexpected event.

Three years later, I faced one of the hardest decisions of my life.

I had to sell my home.

What had been a strong seller’s market shifted rapidly into a buyer’s market, and every contract, every document, and every decision suddenly carried significant financial consequences.

Fortunately, I wasn’t facing those decisions alone.

Because I had access to qualified attorneys through my legal membership, I was able to have contracts reviewed, ask important questions, and make informed decisions before signing anything.

That gave me something priceless during one of the most stressful seasons of my life:
Peace of mind.

Looking back, I can honestly say that access to affordable legal advice was one of the smartest financial decisions I had ever made.

And it wasn’t just during the sale of my home.

Over the years, there were numerous situations where a simple phone call to an attorney answered questions, prevented costly mistakes, and helped me avoid legal problems that could have easily turned into expensive bills.

That’s why I’m so passionate about sharing this benefit with others.

Because legal issues don’t wait until it’s convenient.

They show up when you’re buying or selling a home… caring for aging parents… dealing with identity theft… facing consumer disputes… reviewing contracts… planning your estate… or navigating one of life’s unexpected turns.

You may never know when you’ll need an attorney.

But when that day comes, you’ll be grateful you don’t have to face it alone—or worry about how much every phone call will cost.

My hope is simple:

That you have the same peace of mind and confidence that helped me navigate one of the most difficult seasons of my life.

Because life can come at you fast.
Being prepared makes all the difference.

HOW LEGAL PLANS WORK

What A Legal Plan Includes

A legal plan works like a membership: one flat monthly fee provides access to a dedicated provider law firm in your state. Depending on the plan you choose, membership benefits can include:

Advice & Consultation

Consult your provider law firm on personal legal questions and get guidance on how to proceed — before you make a costly decision.

Letters & Calls

Your provider law firm can write letters or make calls on your behalf to help address covered personal legal matters.

Document Review

Have personal legal documents reviewed before you sign, subject to plan limits — contracts, agreements, and offers look different after an attorney reads them.

Estate Planning

Will preparation and related documents such as a living will and healthcare power of attorney, with periodic reviews, per plan terms.

Preferred Member Rates

For legal matters beyond plan coverage — including pre-existing matters — members receive a discounted rate on the provider firm's standard fees.

A Place to Take Your Questions

The everyday value is simple: when a confusing letter or contract shows up, you have somewhere to take it.

Important: Benefits, coverage, and availability vary by plan and state, and exclusions and limits apply — including for legal matters that existed before enrollment, which are generally addressed at the preferred member rate rather than under standard plan benefits. Complete plan details, pricing, and terms are available on my official LegalShield associate website, linked after you request the guide.

CLARITY BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a legal plan the same as hiring an attorney?

No. A legal plan is a membership that provides access to a provider law firm for consultation, document review, letters and calls, and other benefits defined by the plan, for a flat monthly fee. For matters beyond plan coverage, members receive a discounted rate on the provider firm's standard fees. It is not the same as retaining a lawyer for a specific case.

What about a legal matter I already have?

Legal matters that existed before you enrolled are generally treated as pre-existing and are typically addressed at the preferred member rate rather than under standard plan benefits. If you have an active legal matter right now, the right move is to speak directly with a licensed attorney in your state. See plan terms for full details.

How much does a membership cost?

Plans and pricing vary by state and plan level. Complete, current pricing is published on my official LegalShield associate website, which is linked in the guide and on the next page — no hidden numbers.

Is this legal advice?

No. Nothing on this page or in the guide is legal advice, and I am not an attorney. Legal advice under a plan comes from independent provider law firms, and for anything urgent you should consult a licensed attorney in your state.
